Boseong Tea Fields
|
|
Boseong Tea Fields, JeollaNamDo, South Korea.
about an hour from KwangJu.
This place is just unreal.
Went there with my friend, JeongHwa.
She's pretty darn unreal herself.
Have been away from my fotopage for too long.
It's so nice that it's still here after months of neglect.
No internet, no tv at home, by choice. Was wasting too much time.
I'm learning to play the bamboo flute and the tinwhistle.
Have taken tons of pics since january.
will i ever get them scanned?
must buy digital camera...

Gdansk
|
|
you can walk around places foreign and
do your best to capture the place in fotos.
but the best things there are unphotographable.
always better to visit friends than travel to a place.
can't wait to go back to Gdansk - and see my
friends there.

Snow Day!!!
|
|
this is what a 'Snow Day' in Nebraska looks like.
'Snow Day' means there 'sno school.
(definition for speakers of english as a foreign language)
and since my host/friend's a teacher that means i was
not 'home alone' today.
i shot digitally today. it's a wimpy lil' camera. fun but
didn't feel PHUN.
kali provides some scale. not really all that much snow...
6 to 9 inches (15 to 22cm)
as a kid, snow days saved my ass on a number of occasions.
they always seemed to happen when i had the most homework,
projects due.
Thanks Snow Days!!!

Thanks Gosia and Piotr for putting up with me at your place!
Blue Sky - the sun is really low on the horizon this time of year
so the shadows from buildings on the other side of the street
ride pretty high.
a Bundle of garlic, red chili peppers and onions on sale in
Gdansk's Old CIty.
Sopot, Gdynia, Gdansk make up a tri-city. Sopot's known
for its nice beaches and nightlife... have to go back and check
that out in the summer.

about a mile from the small town of Bystaw (beez-wawv) there's an even smaller dorf called Bystawek. it was a really nice walk along this country road. that's a convent on the left.
some more shots from the cemetary on All Saints Day.
darn, i should have tried some camera shake stuff... 0)

Poland!!!
|
|
finally got the poland, ukraine fotos developed...
going digital doesn't seem like such a bad idea these days.
visited my friend Gosia in her home town, Bystaw, Poland,
on Nov.1, All Saints Day.
most people in poland go out to their family tombs and
lay about candles to remember their lost loved ones.
this year the holiday was on a weekend, so some people
visited the graveyard several days in a row, several times
a day.
people's emotions are pretty muted. it's a somber occasion
but it also seemed cathartic.
