Ben checked out the goods.
Snapped a few pics so as not to get bored.
Asked the shop owner first of course.

Santa Fe - Adobe Themepark or Capital City?

Seriously, this place is pretty cool.
Like a different country... on another planet.
Something out of a 60's Star Trek episode.

The weather was great and the place was
so... empty. Guess March is low season.
Everyone was at the beach in Mexico.

Had a lot of fun with my polarizing filter as you
can probably tell.

As usual, went a bit overboard.

The one in the middle's a hotel.

The surrounding pics...
Not sure what's in 'em.

i messed up on my camera settings when taking this round of Photos.
in an attempt to salvage the fotos, I messed with
gamma, contrast and color with the aid of Photofiltre.
tried to stay faithful to the colors i remember seeing...
though i got carried away on more than a few...

these fotos were taken while biking from Iksan to Mireuksan
and back. should have gone for more detail shots.
i should have taken a picture of my bike. landscapes get boring.
was thinking more in terms of just a general view of what you'd
see on a fast spin there and back.

it was a real pain lugging the camera along.
the D70 feels like a brick compared to my old F70.

A great job of salvage. Isn't it a wonder how you can manipulate the elements of light and color through computers! Dad Sat 5-Nov-2005 01:31

Friday night at Red Rock.

John!
So glad you have a new camera! I am still going to say keep them coming! My favorite photo is D, with all of the activity blurred around the central figure it really makes him a focal point. I feel a story coming on... bartender!
Talk to you later!
Your sis, Chris

Do Hyeon invited me and some friends out to see the
Teuk Kong Mu Sul meet here in Iksan.
It's a martial art similar to Aikido or Hapkido...

Bottom row: a picture of Irae.
I like the 'old fotograph' version in the middle the best.

Piled Stones
Temple Rafters
View all 9 photos...
Took these last Fall at MaiSan, TapSa Temple.

The great number of stone piles make this a unique temple.
They are said to be the work of single reclusive monk, Lee Gab Ryong.

The temple is located at the base of Maisan, which is known for its
two large mountain peaks that kind of look like horse ears when viewed
from a distance.

more about the place:
http://english.daegu.go.kr/group02/chingusai/200211.htm
"The group of 80 stone towers represents the best of Mt. Mai touring. Many stones are piled up in an orderly fashion to make these towers (local memorial no. 35). The cone-shaped stone towers, including 15 meter high Cheonji top tower, are indeed a must-see. The mystery of the towers is that though they sway in the wind, they don't crumble. And the mystery can not be explained with modern geometry. It is said that the recluse, Lee Gab-ryong, built these towers while inspired by God. He carried stones one by one from famous mountains, nationwide, by himself. It took 10 years to complete the towers that symbolize his wish to save mankind and to atone for our sins."
